Beard It Up Campaign – PR 18-13

North Richland Hills Police Department set to participate in Beard It Up/Color For The Cure Campaign – raising money in support of bringing awareness and funding for childhood cancer research.

Beginning November 1, 2018, community members may see some changes on our staff members. Chief Perdue has approved and invited both sworn and non-sworn members of the department in a ‘pay-to-play’ fundraising opportunity. Policy amendments for the month of November only will allow male staff the opportunity to grow facial hair and female staff the chance to wear nail polish. Participation is voluntary, but initial feedback shows the campaign has already raised $620.

Donations to participate will range from $30 to $50 per person, and will go directly to the departments chosen receiving organization, The Cure Starts Now. This organization is dedicated to focusing their efforts on childhood cancer research. https://thecurestartsnow.org/

Policy will go back to normal on December 1, 2018 but our staff is hopeful the awareness and funds raised will have a lasting impact.
