On Sunday, January 5, 2020 officers were dispatched to Kohls located at 6091 Precinct Line Road involving a person shoplifting.
At approximately 7:53 PM, the suspect fled the store and led officers on a vehicle pursuit which traveled west bound on Mid-Cities Rd. During the pursuit, Officers successfully spiked the suspect vehicle’s tires, however the driver continued westbound and was eventually stopped by traffic at the corner of N. Beach St./ Western Center Blvd. The suspect continued to push through traffic causing damage to two other vehicles.
The suspect fled on foot, but was apprehended after a short foot chase. While taking the suspect into custody an officer sustained a shoulder injury and was taken to a local hospital for medical attention.
The suspect is currently in the North Richland Hills Joint Detention Facility being held on Evading Arrest W/Vehicle, Theft of Property, and other possible pending charges.
The suspect is identified as Cody Allen and is awaiting to be magistrated on the following charges: Evading Arrest W/ Vehicle, Theft Property less than $2500 W/2 Previous Convictions, Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, a Parole Violation warrant, and a warrant out of Weatherford Police Department for Harassment.
The Officer injured in the incident received medical attention for his shoulder and was released from the hospital a few hours later. The Officer was sent home afterwards to rest and is doing well.
