Body Worn Camera Program – PR 18-10

North Richland Hills Police finalize and implement body worn cameras – Axon is chosen.

The North Richland Hills police department is proud to introduce the Body Worn Camera Program. Cameras have been issued to all sworn officers, Public Service Officers and Crime Scene Examiners. The body worn cameras will provide an added layer of transparency and be a great benefit to the community and officers as we continue to work in partnership to keep our community safe.

State Legislature approved Senate Bill 158 that allowed departments to apply to receive grant funding to help support the cost of implementing body worn cameras. The North Richland Hills Police Department received approximately $94,000 that supported the implementation, with the remaining funds coming from the annual operating budget. The program was presented to the North Richland Hills City Council in November 2017, and the council authorized the North Richland Hills Police Department to enter in to a contract with Axon.

The public will notice the cameras on sworn officers, Public Service Officers and Crime Scene examiners as full implementation and training have been completed.
